Extra Curricular Activities

Clubs and Extracurricular Activities

Extracurricular activities are highly encouraged in Athena. They can be voluntary, and they offer students an opportunity to explore their interests, develop new skills, and socialise with peers who share similar passions. These activities provide students with a chance to develop leadership skills, teamwork, time management, and other important life skills that can prepare them for success beyond the classroom.

Here at Athena we have various “Clubs”, “Work Education” and extracurricular activities.

Math Club

Maths club is dedicated to extra-curricular maths get-togethers that breathe new life into maths beyond the classroom. They come in all shapes and sizes and there is no one model that works for every school. However, they all focus on two things: having fun with maths and learning.

  • Mathematics club is a powerful tool to remove mathematics phobia among students.
  • It helps in arousing and maintaining students’ interest in mathematics.
  • It provides the students with opportunities to develop their explorative, creative and inventive faculties.
  • It inculcates the habit of self-study and independent work among the students.
  • It helps in developing heuristic and problem solving attitudes among the students.
  • It provides opportunities for students to translate the theory into practice and to apply their learning in daily life situation

Students are groomed to confidently express themselves in all activities .

  • The aim of English is to enable students to use, understand, appreciate, reflect on, and enjoy the English language in a variety of texts and shapes.
  • Meaning to words in ways that are imaginative, Interpretive, critical and powerful.

This not only enhances the ability of writing but also brings out the innate creativity in students.

It is an attempt to identify the emerging literary skills in students and to foreground their creativity with the language.

The Health & wealth Club focuses on generating awareness about various lifestyle diseases, their detection and prevention. The goal of the club is to promote healthy lifestyles via health education and campaigns. Diversified health promoting activities planned by the club are:

“A picture speaks a thousand words”

Students in the photography club learn the art and technique of photographing with a single-lens reflex camera. The objective here is to teach them the nuances of focus, shutter speed, aperture, etc. This develops knowledge and their internal power and imagination by showcasing the photos with what elements to exclude, what angle to frame the photo, to express an impression of an object in a subjective form.

The Bharat Scouts and Guides

The Scouting and Guiding mission is to contribute to the kids education, through a value system. This is based on a Scout Promise and Law, to help build a better world such that people are self-sustained as individuals and they play a key role in building a constructive society.

We at Athena train each student to be a Scout, one won’t be differentiated on the basis of caste, religion, creed, race or gender. It just requires one’s consent and voluntarily adheres to the Principles of Scouting. Scouts won’t have to face any difficulty while getting into it.
